The general quality of music has declined over a few decades, it is still degenerating. A few decades ago genuine artists that compose and enjoy music dominated mainstream music, for example The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, and Pink Floyd.

However the success of pop, disco, synthpop, and glam metal artists in the 80s such as: Micheal Jackson, Beegees, Duran Duran, a Flock of Seagulls and Motley crue demonstrated the lucrative aspect of music. This eventually promoted immense corporations to become involved in the music scene.

These corporations cultivated false artists that had no passion and involvement in their music, that were selected for the reason that they were visually attractive and stimulating, to attract the majority's attention.

The music created by these avaricious corporations was over simplistic that is made to appeal immediately with simple "hook" melodies that are engraved in the majorities mind by constant radio plays.

Eventually the situation aggravated further when media corporations and radio exposed these types of idols constantly, as a result the diversity and genres of music decreased significantly. The majority of genuine artists receded to the independent music scene.

The currently popular music has untruthful lyricism that stimulates with unsophisticated repeating compositions that appeal easily. Some modem listeners have the tendency of approaching music as a trend and fad rather than art, music is discarded within weeks of release and new music is percepted, this is not necessary negative.

However the problem is that the new music replacing the previous popular music has no crucial difference, this constantly repeated cycle promotes listeners to seek what is latest without comprehending the quality of the music.
For the fundamental change in current music, prominent producers should abandon excessive commercialism in music that overpowers the genuine mind of a musician.
